Cornwall Optical recommends UV protection in every pair of sunglasses. The sun emits ultraviolet radiation, which is damaging to the eyes. Lenses with ultraviolet protection prevent harmful radiation from touching your eyes. All Cornwall Optical Sunglasses have UV protection. Using tinted lenses without UV protection can be extremely damaging to eyes. Dark tint causes pupils to dilate allowing more ultraviolet radiation to enter the eyes.

What kind of Sunglasses do I need?
Cornwall Optical features many high quality brand-name sunglasses in both prescription and non prescription. These include fine sunglasses such as Bollé , Ray~Ban, Serengeti and Gucci . Good sunglasses need to protect the eyes from more than the suns visible radiation. Depending in the activity, sunglasses should also protect the eyes from wind, dust and other hazards. Cornwall Optical’s licensed opticians are capable of aligning and contouring sunglasses to maximize comfort, fit and visual acuity.
Polarized lenses can be used in sunglasses to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as water or snow. They accomplish this through a process called polarization or a polarization filter. This works much like a Venetian blind controlling sunlight through a window. Glare is eliminated because horizontally polarized light waves cannot bypass the polarized filter. Polarized lenses are not recommended for all sunglass requirements. Consult with Cornwall Optical opticians to see if polarized lenses are right for you.
